Why Adil Pewaris
What We Offer That Others Often Do Not
Inheritance law firms are not all alike. Here is what shapes our practice — and why the difference matters for families dealing with estate matters in Sarawak.

The Adil Pewaris Difference
Focused Specialisation
Inheritance and estate law is not a sideline for us — it is the entirety of what we do. That focus brings a level of familiarity with the subject that a general practice cannot replicate.
Time Given to Each Client
We deliberately limit the volume of matters we carry at any one time so that clients receive considered attention rather than rapid standard processing.
Fixed, Stated Fees
Each service carries a published price. Clients know what they are committing to before any work begins, with no open-ended billing arrangements.
Sarawak-Specific Knowledge
Local knowledge of the High Court in Kuching, relevant land tenure frameworks, and the community context here forms a genuine part of our advisory work.
Strict Confidentiality
All instructions, documents and conversations are treated with legal professional privilege. Discretion is not a feature — it is the foundation of everything we do.
Sensitivity to Context
Estate matters often begin in grief. We carry that awareness throughout our work — in how we communicate, how we pace things, and how we frame difficult information.
Professional Expertise
Specialist Practice · Malaysian Bar
Our advocates practise exclusively in inheritance and estate law. Principal advocate Ahmad Hafiz bin Rashid has been active in this area since 2012 and has handled estate matters ranging from straightforward probate applications to contested disputes between family members. Associate Lim Yee Fung joined the practice in 2019 with a civil litigation background and contributes substantially to the more complex and contentious work.
- Valid practising certificates, Malaysian Bar
- Probate and Administration Act 1959 — full working knowledge
- Experience across Muslim and non-Muslim estate frameworks
- Familiarity with Sarawak land law considerations affecting estates
Clear Process at Every Step
Documented · Transparent · Client-Led
We begin each engagement with a written scope of work and a stated fee. As the matter progresses, we provide written updates and invite questions at any stage. Nothing moves forward without the client's understanding and agreement. For probate applications, we prepare a step-by-step explanation of the process before filing begins, so executors are not surprised by what is asked of them.
- Written engagement terms before any work begins
- Step-by-step process explanations for each service type
- Regular written progress updates
- No step taken without client's confirmation
Client Service That Does Not Disappear
Accessible · Consistent · Responsive
Clients are not handed off between staff members as the matter progresses. The advocate who takes your initial instruction is the one who sees the matter through. Our client affairs coordinator Nora binti Baharudin ensures that administrative matters are handled promptly and that clients can always reach someone who knows the file. Post-filing queries for probate applications are included in the service — there is no separate charge for correspondence that arises naturally from the matter.
- Named advocate stays with the matter throughout
- Post-filing support included in probate service
- Accessible by phone or written enquiry during office hours
- Written summary provided after pre-planning sessions
Transparent Value
Fixed Fees · No Hidden Costs · MYR-Denominated
Our three services carry published fees: MYR 790 for a pre-planning advisory session, MYR 870 for probate application drafting and submission, and MYR 1,470 for contentious estate litigation. Scope expansions — if they arise — are discussed and agreed in writing before additional work is undertaken. Clients are not presented with a final bill that differs materially from what was agreed at the outset.
- All fees stated openly on our website
- No open-ended billing arrangements
- Any scope changes discussed and agreed in advance
- Written fee confirmation before commencement

What Sets Us Apart
Distinctive Features of Our Practice
Written Summaries After Every Advisory Session
Pre-planning conversations can cover complex ground. We always follow up with a written summary, so clients have a reliable record of what was discussed and what options were identified — at no additional charge.
No Obligation After Initial Enquiry
Clients may enquire, meet with us, and ask questions without any commitment to proceed. Written engagement only begins when the client is ready and has confirmed the terms in writing.
Service for Families at Every Stage of Life
Pre-planning conversations are not only for older clients. We work with adults of all ages who wish to understand their estate and document their intentions clearly — particularly where family structures are blended or assets are held across multiple forms.
Considered Approach to Contested Matters
Before accepting a litigation instruction, we discuss the full range of options with clients, including negotiation and mediation. We represent clients in court where that is necessary — but we are not inclined to treat litigation as the first answer.
