What Clients Have Told Us
Rohani binti Hamid
Executor, Kuching
"When my father passed away, I was named executor but had no idea what that actually meant in practice. Ahmad Hafiz took the time to explain each step before asking me to sign or submit anything. The probate took about four months altogether — he had warned me it could take that long, so I was not left wondering."
April 2025 · Probate Application Drafting
Tan Kah Ling
Business owner, Sibu
"I came to discuss pre-planning after a business partner of mine passed away and the estate became complicated. The conversation helped me understand what my family might face if I did not put clearer arrangements in place. The written summary was detailed and useful. My only comment is that the waiting time for an appointment was a few weeks — which I understand, given the practice does not take on more than it can handle properly."
March 2025 · Pre-Planning Conversation
Mohd Azri bin Samat
Family member, Miri
"Our family had a disagreement about our grandmother's estate after she passed. Yee Fung was our adviser throughout the court process. She was straightforward about the strengths and weaknesses of our position and helped us understand what outcome to reasonably expect. The matter was resolved at the hearing stage without going to full trial, which was a relief for everyone."
April 2025 · Contentious Estate Litigation
Cecilia Wong
Retired, Kuching
"I wanted to think through what would happen to my house and savings after I am gone — particularly because I have children from two marriages. The session was thoughtful and unhurried. I had not expected to feel heard in a legal consultation, but I did. The written summary became the basis for the arrangements I eventually put in place."
May 2025 · Pre-Planning Conversation
Ibrahim bin Zakaria
Teacher, Kuching
"My siblings and I needed a probate application for our late mother's property. The process is not quick — we knew that — but having everything explained beforehand meant we were not anxious when it took time. Nora was very responsive when we had administrative questions. The fee was what we expected."
March 2025 · Probate Application Drafting
Siti Lailah binti Yusof
Accountant, Bintulu
"I live in Bintulu but came to Kuching specifically for the pre-planning consultation after a colleague recommended the practice. The fee was reasonable for what was offered. The written summary was thorough. I have since referred two family members who needed probate assistance."

How the Work Looked in Practice
Case Study · Probate with Multiple Properties
Challenge
An executor was dealing with an estate that included a residential property, a commercial shophouse, and three separate bank accounts — one of which was a joint account whose status was unclear. The executor had no legal background and was unsure how to begin.
Our Approach
We reviewed all documentation, clarified the status of the joint account through correspondence with the relevant bank, and prepared a probate application covering the assets that required a formal grant. Each step was explained to the executor before filing.
Outcome
The probate application was granted in approximately five months. The executor was able to complete the transfer of all assets within three months of the grant. No complications arose post-filing.
"I came in not knowing what I needed to do. I left with a clear sequence of steps and someone to call when I had questions."
Case Study · Contested Distribution Among Siblings
Challenge
Four siblings disagreed over the distribution of their late father's estate, which included a family home that two of the siblings were still occupying. Negotiations had broken down before the family sought legal representation.
Our Approach
We took instructions from two of the siblings, prepared the necessary pleadings, and attended the preliminary hearings. We also explored the possibility of a mediated resolution at each stage, keeping in view the family's longer-term interests.
Outcome
A settlement was reached at mediation stage, prior to full trial, within approximately seven months. The agreed terms included a property valuation process that all parties accepted as independent and fair.
"I appreciated that she did not treat litigation as the only option. We ended up in a better position than I expected."
Case Study · Pre-Planning for a Complex Family Structure
Challenge
A client with children from two separate marriages and a mix of personal and jointly-owned business assets wanted to understand how his estate would be distributed under the current law, and what formal arrangements he could put in place.
Our Approach
The pre-planning session mapped out the estate, identified areas where distribution law might not reflect the client's intentions, and discussed the available instruments. A written summary was provided with recommended next steps for each area of concern.
Outcome
The client returned six weeks later to proceed with formal arrangements covering the relevant aspects of his estate. He has since referred two family members to the practice for their own planning conversations.
"For the first time I actually understood what the law would do with what I own. That was worth more than the fee."
